Application and Assembly

TMICM25X25 is the complete guided-cylinder configuration combining the MIC25 cylinder with a bronze-bush guide frame. The service/replacement frame order code is F-TMICM25X25; it excludes the cylinder when ordered separately. The catalog specifies U rear covers for TMI/TMIC assemblies.

The twin guide rods provide rotational resistance and side-load support. Bronze-bush versions are intended for radial-load service with greater torsional rigidity; linear-bearing versions suit precise, low-friction motion and high-guidance-accuracy applications. Multiple mounting positions are provided on the guide body.

Separate guide frames are offered in the printed standard strokes. For a special-stroke cylinder, the catalog uses the next larger standard-stroke guide frame; for example, MIC20×160U with F-TMICM20X200. This changes the guide-frame envelope, so a special-stroke combination must use its own cylinder and guide dimensions.

Guide Load Reference

The catalog curves plot maximum working load F (N) against the load application distance S (mm). Bronze-bush and linear-bearing units have separate curves for each bore. The load-distance axis extends to 250 mm; the respective vertical scales extend to 160 N and 60 N. These graph limits are not rated loads for every model. Select the curve for the actual bore, bearing type and lever arm, and allow for the motion conditions.

No S code is present: this assembly is nonmagnetic. Magnetic sensor use requires the corresponding magnetic cylinder version.

External and Mounting Dimensions

The following symbols refer to the TMICM drawing for 25 mm bore, 25 mm stroke in the 2022 cylinder catalog, printed page 83. Values are in mm unless a thread or formula is stated. The symbols retain the drawing references and must not be rearranged into an unsupported length × width × height.

Weight Reference

1337.5 g — estimated configuration weight. Calculated from the printed guided-cylinder weight formula. TMIC uses the corresponding TMI bearing/bore formula as a reference estimate because the weight block does not separately label TMIC. Catalog weights and estimates are for reference only; actual product weight prevails.

Force Reference

Calculated theoretical force at 0.5 MPa: extension 245.3 N; retraction 206.1 N, using bore 25 mm and rod diameter 10 mm. This pressure × effective-area calculation excludes friction, acceleration and safety/load factors; it is not a guaranteed usable load. Check the actual operating pressure and mechanism load.

Series Ordering Reference

Standard strokes listed for this bore and operating variant: 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 200, 250 mm. These are alternative order selections; they are not additional travel available from the current cylinder.

Selection, Installation and Use

  • Select the bore and operating pressure from the required force, then check the stroke, moving load, speed, cushioning and mounting method for the mechanism.
  • Flush the air lines before connection. Keep sealing tape or sealant clear of the first 1–2 thread turns and prevent water, particles or corrosive gases entering the cylinder.
  • Keep the rod axis aligned with the load. Provide guides or supports where needed; avoid direct side loading and twisting of an unguided piston rod.
  • Start speed adjustment with the flow-control valve closed and open it gradually. Meter-out control is the usual reference circuit; verify the actual single-acting or double-acting circuit.
  • Factory-prelubricated cylinders can be used without additional lubrication. If a lubricator is used, the general instructions specify additive-free ISO VG32 turbine oil and continued lubrication.
  • Isolate the air supply and exhaust residual pressure before servicing. Secure retained loads and prevent unexpected movement on restart. Protect against freezing, corrosion and strong external magnetic fields where magnetic sensing is used.
