Weight basis: 488 g non-stroke mass + 626 mm × 2.29 g/mm. Catalog reference calculation, not measured or packed shipping weight. Mounting/accessory masses, including the TC+TCM1 package where selected, are not established and are excluded. Actual supplied mass prevails.
Features and Operation
The aluminium-alloy barrel and end covers are joined by carbon-steel tie rods. The compact bidirectional piston seal retains grease, and the pneumatic cushioning can be adjusted for the actual motion. Multiple mounting and stroke options are available.
The catalog compares the shorter SC length with ISO 15552 cylinders of the same bore; this is not a declaration that SC conforms to ISO 15552. Its high-temperature feature refers to specially selected seals at 150 °C, not the rating of this TPU configuration. Do not extend the current −20 to 70 °C rating without confirmation of the exact special cylinder.
External and Mounting Dimensions
Dimensions are in mm except threads. Magnetic and nonmagnetic basic-cylinder dimensions are equal. Use the illustrated A + stroke reference without adding an unspecified projection. Mounts, rod-end joints, fittings, sensors and packaging are excluded from the derived bare length; it is not a complete installed envelope.

Mounting and Rod-End Accessories
Select the installation for the load direction and motion. Listing a compatible part does not mean it is included; confirm the actual supplied parts and quantities. TC must be used with TCM1 and ordered with the cylinder. Neither mounting position may be changed arbitrarily.

All four rod-end choices use M10 × 1.25. Their dimensions are in mm except threads and angles; MK is floating-joint angular compensation and PH is the spherical-joint angle. The carbon-steel material category does not define every subcomponent or finish. Add accessory mass only for parts actually supplied; the floating-joint radial-offset note for M6 and smaller does not apply.
Confirm seal kits, wear rings, guide bushings, nuts and covers by the genuine SC32 service code, seal material and production revision. Drawing item numbers and a bore size do not establish orderable replacement codes. This nonmagnetic cylinder does not include a replacement magnet.
Force and System Selection
| Parameter |
Value |
| Effective piston areas |
Extension 804 mm²; retraction 690 mm² |
| Theoretical force at 0.5 MPa |
Extension 402 N; retraction 345 N |
| Force calculation |
Force (N) = effective area (mm²) × pressure (MPa), before friction and dynamic losses |
| Load-ratio guidance |
Up to 0.7 at static/low speed, 0.5 at 50–500 mm/s and 0.3 above 500 mm/s; not a guaranteed payload or structural safety factor |
| Required effective flow area |
At 300 / 400 / 500 / 600 / 700 / 800 mm/s: 1.3 / 1.7 / 2.1 / 2.5 / 2.9 / 3.4 mm² |
| Tube-size selection reference |
At 300–500 mm/s: 6 × 4 mm; at 600–800 mm/s: 8 × 5 mm (OD × ID) |
Catalogue theoretical values, not permissible payload. 0.1 MPa reference is below the current 0.15 MPa operating minimum; friction, back pressure, load ratio and rod stability must be checked.
Reference speeds depend on load, pressure, valve flow, tube length, fittings, cushion adjustment and exhaust backpressure. Flow area is a circuit-sizing reference, not piston area or a guaranteed achieved speed. Long strokes require stability, buckling, guidance and installation checks.
Installation and Maintenance
Qualified staff must select/install/service the system. Guard motion; secure cylinders, loads and attachments. Before service, isolate air/electricity, vent pressure and secure motion. Design safe air/power-loss, emergency-stop and restart responses against unexpected extension or dropped loads.
Check protection from corrosive gas, chemicals, solvents, salt, water/steam, explosive atmospheres, vibration, radiant heat and sun. Protect sliding surfaces from damage, dust, humidity, splashes, oil/coolant. Prevent condensate freezing. Special seals do not extend this rating; external magnetic fields may disturb cylinders/sensors.
Use clean, dry, purified air, not raw compressor discharge. Remove water, particles, oxidized oil, tar/carbon; filter to 40 µm or finer. Confirm suitability for other fluids/synthetic-oil contaminants. Excessively dry air may shorten life unless designed for it.
Factory lubrication normally needs no added oil. Once introduced, continue additive-free ISO-VG32 turbine oil; incompatible oil may swell seals. Guide: ≤25 mg/m³ oil mist, 0.5–5 drops/1000 L. Size the lubricator for flow; avoid excess oil.
Blow pipes clean; start sealing tape 1.5–2 threads back to keep fragments out. Use suitable flame-resistant/metal tube near hot spatter. Check each tube’s pressure, temperature, OD/ID and bend radius; generic nylon/PU advice cannot override its rating.
PT1/8 piping torque: 5–7 N·m with the specified mating connection; not a G/NPT installation or sensor-adjustment torque.
Use speed controls at both ports; start closed/open slowly. Meter-out commonly stabilizes motion/reduces startup runout. Adjust cushioning gradually to load/speed, avoiding impact, rebound or forcing the screw. High mass/speed may need engineered deceleration or an external absorber.
Compressibility/leakage prevent assuming precise prolonged mid-stroke stopping with a closed-center valve or precise cylinder synchronization. Match bore/stroke/cushion/mounts/sensors to load, pressure and travel; allow installation/adjustment margin, favor suitable standard strokes and check air consumption.
Align rod/load motion; independently guide side load, bending and torque—rod-end joints do not replace guides. Check long-rod buckling/sag/vibration; add suitable intermediate/front-cover support and limit unsupported lever arms. Swinging links need CA/CB/TC pivots, not forced rigid LB mounts. Support height increases fastener/bracket torque; orient flanges for push/pull loads.
During long storage, operate periodically and prevent corrosion, following air-quality/lubrication requirements.

These are separately selected alternatives, not a supplied kit or stock promise. Match actual NPT1/8 cylinder working ports, sealing method, insertion depth, wrench/rotation clearance, flow and tube loading. PT, G and NPT are not interchangeable. The M10 × 1.25 rod thread is not an air port. Marked discontinued families, including NPSS, are historical/installed-equipment references only: confirm remaining availability or an approved replacement before ordering, not current standard supply.
Use suitable soft nylon or PU tubing with the exact inch OD; compression fittings also require the listed ID. 5/32, 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 in are 3.96875, 6.35, 7.9375 and 9.525 mm, not nominal metric tube sizes. NPHF has male RA and additional female RB, both NPT1/8: connect or seal RB as the circuit permits; it is not a tube socket. Tees, crosses and distribution fittings must not bridge chambers or unrelated controls. NPKD uses main 1/4 in and branch 5/32 in OD.
Ordinary push-in fittings and listed flow controls are rated 0–1 MPa, −20–70 °C. NBPC/NBKC/NBB/NBZ are 0–1 MPa, 0–150 °C, limiting the SC path to 0.15–1 MPa, 0–70 °C before lower component limits. NBPC does not share the metric BPC 0.9 MPa limit. A component vacuum rating does not approve a vacuum cylinder assembly.
NBKC5/32-3/32-1/8 follows the explicit model/dimension row; a conflicting equal-OD/ID selection-matrix row requires procurement confirmation. Hold the body hex for thread installation, not the tube-locking nut; insert tubing fully and tighten correctly. NBB has two male NPT ends; match the separately labelled second end to a female component. NBZ closes only permitted unused auxiliary connections, never either active cylinder working port.
At the cylinder, A restricts cylinder/thread → tube exhaust (meter-out), with free reverse supply; B restricts tube → cylinder supply (meter-in). A is the usual double-acting exhaust-control choice; B needs a designed meter-in circuit. Start closed and open slowly; these are not safety isolation. NPTL1/8 maximum cap-adjustment torque is 0.08 N·m, not pipe-thread torque. Do not force end stops or use pliers. NPSA is an inch tube-to-tube control without A/B suffixes: match both ODs and the body flow symbol.
NBSL/NBSLM/NBESL are only for a separately selected valve exhaust with matching NPT1/8 thread, adequate flow and acceptable backpressure. They are not cylinder working-port parts, inlet filters or shutoffs; NBESL adjustment changes backpressure. ASC10006T has two female NPT1/8 ports and needs separate male connections; follow its P/A and check/throttle symbol. Its 0.05–0.95 MPa, −20–70 °C limits the SC path to 0.15–0.95 MPa before other limits.
GAFR20006ST is a separate upstream NPT1/8 filter/regulator: inlet ≤1 MPa, setting 0.15–0.9 MPa, −5–70 °C non-freezing. Check flow, pressure drop, condensate, bowl environment and all downstream limits. It is not a cylinder-mounted fitting or vacuum regulator. Metric PU coils, PSA/GPSA and PPA are not specified for these inch sockets; select separately verified inch tubing and connections. No complete inch-tube coil ordering code is established here.
Separate Directional-Valve and Tube Examples
The SC32 NPT1/8 cylinder can be controlled through a correctly designed separate pneumatic circuit. The independently verified directional-valve examples below have PT/G ports, not NPT: 5V11006B050, 5V12006B050, 5V21006B050, 5V22006B050, 4V11006B, 4V11006BG, 4V12006B, 4V12006BG, 4V21006B, 4V21006BG, 4V22006B, 4V22006BG, 4A11006, 4A11006G, 4A12006, 4A12006G, 4A21006, 4A21006G, 4A22006, 4A22006G. Match valve-side and cylinder-side fittings and tubing separately; a complete mixed-thread connection kit is not established by these examples. These are separately ordered circuit examples, not included parts or a speed guarantee. B means DC24V; the cylinder SKU does not select valve voltage. 10/20 are single/double actuation. Listed 5V uses 050 (0.5 m leads), internal pilot and PT ports only; no G or NPT 5V code is inferred. Listed 4V uses default DIN entry and internal pilot; I flying-lead or -W external-pilot variants are not these examples. 4A requires independent pneumatic pilot commands and has no coil voltage; confirm the actual pilot-port thread and pilot-air supply separately. The listed valve limit is 0.15–0.8 MPa with 40 µm filtered air, below the cylinder maximum of 1.0 MPa. Confirm actual flow, switching logic, temperature, exhaust backpressure and the lowest component rating.
Blue 100 m coil examples: PA6060040100MBU (PA6, 6×4 mm, -10 to 70°C,3 MPa at 23°C,min bend 45 mm); PA12060040100MBU (PA12, 6×4 mm, -40 to 70°C,2 MPa at 23°C,min bend 35 mm); UN54D060040100MBU (flame-resistant, 6×4 mm, -20 to 70°C,1 MPa at 23°C,min bend 12 mm); UN54D080050100MBU (flame-resistant, 8×5 mm, -20 to 70°C,1 MPa at 23°C,min bend 18 mm). Pressure derates with temperature; select compatible fittings and actual required length. These are supply-pack examples, not included cut lengths. The reviewed nylon table does not establish an 8×5 mm option; 8×6 is different. Flame resistance is not a fireproof-system claim.
M5 entries in the bore-based chart concern separate valve connections, not SC cylinder ports. 4M entries require a NAMUR interface; no SC mounting/adapter compatibility is established.
The PA/UN examples are metric tubing references, not matches for the reviewed inch NPT fitting sockets. Do not equate 6 mm with 1/4 inch or 8 mm with 5/16 inch; choose a separately verified complete tube/fitting chain.
