Specifications: MBL32X40CA — AirTAC MBL aluminum alloy mini cylinder, double acting, single rod, 32 mm bore and 40 mm stroke. PT1/8 port; nonmagnetic piston.
MAL to MBL Replacement
This listing is for MBL32X40CA. The MAL series is discontinued. All orders placed under the corresponding legacy MAL listing MAL32X40CA are fulfilled with MBL32X40CA. The cylinder supplied will be MBL, not MAL. The bore, stroke, magnetic option, rear-cover code, mounting code and port-thread selection are retained in this ordering correspondence.
The compared MAL and MBL drawings give the same A + stroke length for this 32 mm bore and CA rear cover: 141 + 40 = 181 mm. Other body and rod-projection dimensions differ; check the mounting interface and clearances before installation. This store replacement policy is not a declaration that every dimension is identical.

Features and Operation
- Alternating the supply and exhaust at the two cylinder ports drives extension and retraction.
- The tube and end-cover construction is not intended for dismantling. Protect the rod and sliding surfaces, and keep the load aligned with the cylinder axis.
The catalog describes a compact piston with a two-way sealing arrangement and a grease-retaining function. The aluminum-alloy tube and end covers use a rolled connection. The English overview contains a stainless-steel wording inconsistency; the material table and Chinese MBL chapter identify an aluminum-alloy tube.
External and Mounting Dimensions
The following symbols refer to the MBL drawing for 32 mm bore, 40 mm stroke and CA rear cover in the 2022 cylinder catalog, printed page 114. Values are in mm unless a thread or formula is stated. The symbols retain the drawing references and must not be rearranged into an unsupported length × width × height.

This MBL32X40CA has no S magnetic-piston code. CMSG/DMSG magnetic detection is listed for the corresponding magnetic version, not for this nonmagnetic cylinder. Adding a sensor band does not add a piston magnet.
The 2022 Chinese MBL selection specifies CMSG/DMSG profiles and the bore-matched round-body band. The supplied English edition also lists EMSG; that additional edition entry does not change the Chinese CMSG/DMSG selection stated here. Select the complete electrical sensor code separately.
Weight Reference
357 g — catalog reference weight. The cylinder reference is 357 g from the separately labelled MBL table for 32 mm bore, 40 mm stroke and CA rear cover (2022 Chinese catalog, printed page 426). PT, G and NPT options have no separate weight allowance on that page. All catalog weights and estimates are for reference only; actual product weight prevails.
Force Reference
Calculated theoretical force at 0.5 MPa: extension 401.9 N; retraction 345.4 N, using bore 32 mm and rod diameter 12 mm. This pressure × effective-area calculation excludes friction, acceleration and safety/load factors; it is not a guaranteed usable load. Check the actual operating pressure and mechanism load.

Series Ordering Reference
Standard strokes listed for this bore and operating variant: 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, 80, 100, 125, 150, 160, 175, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500 mm. These are alternative order selections; they are not additional travel available from the current cylinder.
Select the operating variant, bore, stroke, magnetic option, rear-cover form, mounting accessory and pipe-thread option from the corresponding ordering chart. Do not transfer rear-cover or mount choices between single-rod, double-rod and adjustable-stroke versions without checking their dedicated row.
For the ordinary MBL series, the catalog lists a maximum standard stroke of 500 mm and an allowable special stroke of 800 mm. A special stroke requires its approved order and drawing; it is not extra travel available from the current cylinder. CA and U are the listed rear covers. CM is an old MAL rear-cover option and is not an MBL ordering code.
Selection, Installation and Use
- Select the bore and operating pressure from the required force, then check the stroke, moving load, speed, cushioning and mounting method for the mechanism.
- Flush the air lines before connection. Keep sealing tape or sealant clear of the first 1–2 thread turns and prevent water, particles or corrosive gases entering the cylinder.
- Keep the rod axis aligned with the load. Provide guides or supports where needed; avoid direct side loading and twisting of an unguided piston rod.
- Start speed adjustment with the flow-control valve closed and open it gradually. Meter-out control is the usual reference circuit; verify the actual single-acting or double-acting circuit.
- Factory-prelubricated cylinders can be used without additional lubrication. If a lubricator is used, the general instructions specify additive-free ISO VG32 turbine oil and continued lubrication.
- Isolate the air supply and exhaust residual pressure before servicing. Secure retained loads and prevent unexpected movement on restart. Protect against freezing, corrosion and strong external magnetic fields where magnetic sensing is used.
Circuit-selection reference at a theoretical 500 mm/s: for 32 mm bore the general catalog lists effective area 2.1 mm², valve examples 5V110M5 / 5V120M5, pneumatic-pilot alternatives 4A110M5 / 4A120M5, flow control PTLM5, silencer BSLM5, and tubing 6 mm OD × 4 mm ID. These are selection examples, not included components or a guaranteed installed speed; check actual port/thread adapters, pressure loss, tube length and load.
