Force and load selection

Parameter Details
0.1 MPa 33.7 N theoretical clamping force
0.2 MPa 67.4 N theoretical clamping force
0.3 MPa 101.1 N theoretical clamping force
0.4 MPa 134.8 N theoretical clamping force
0.5 MPa 168.5 N theoretical clamping force
0.6 MPa 202.2 N theoretical clamping force
0.7 MPa 235.9 N theoretical clamping force

These are theoretical catalog outputs, not a rated workpiece mass. Values below the specified operating-pressure range are table references and do not extend the permitted operating range. Arm bending and rotational inertia can require a lower pressure or speed than the cylinder maximum.

Parameter Details
Catalog standard-arm rotational inertia 7.651e-05 kg·m²
Arm-length / pressure example At 80 mm arm length, ACK32/40 must be used below 0.49 MPa; ACK50/63 below 0.78 MPa. This example is not a full-range approval for other lengths.
Inertia / speed example At 10⁻³ kg·m² arm inertia, ACK32/40 peak piston speed must remain below 100 mm/s; ACK50/63 below 170 mm/s.

Use the arm-length versus pressure and inertia versus maximum-speed curves for the actual bore and fixture. The catalog relates maximum piston speed to average speed by a factor of 1.6; use peak speed when checking the graph. Add the inertia of the selected arm and attached tooling. Keep the assembly within both bending and inertia limits.

Inertia calculation references

Parameter Details
Units Mass in kg; lengths in m; inertia I in kg·m²
Slender rod, axis at its center I = m × a² / 12
Slender rod, divided at the rotation axis I = (m₁ × a₁² + m₂ × a₂²) / 3
Thin rectangular plate, central perpendicular axis I = m × (a² + b²) / 12
Cylindrical fixture offset from the axis I = m × D² / 8 + m × L²
Total moving inertia I_total = I_arm + I_fixture; include every moving attachment

Dimensions for this configuration

Linear drawing dimensions are in mm unless a thread or angle is stated. Letter labels retain their meaning in the corresponding catalog view. Only the current action and attachment form are selected; parenthesized single-acting values from the source are resolved to this model.

Accessories and configuration boundaries

  • The current ACK / ACKD code determines the single- or double-arm assembly. Custom arm design must satisfy the bending and inertia graphs. No independent replacement-arm order code is printed in this series table.

Installation and use

  • Use clean compressed air filtered through a 40 μm element and flush all tubing before connection. Fit meter-out flow control at the ports; rotational impact grows rapidly when speed is excessive.
  • Clamp only during the straight clamping stroke, after rotation is complete. The clamping face must be parallel to the workpiece and perpendicular to the cylinder axis; avoid clamping on a slope.
  • Keep the workpiece stationary after clamping. Prevent side loads and impacts; do not use the cylinder to straighten a workpiece.
  • When adjusting or removing a clamp arm, support the arm with an open-ended wrench and use the hex wrench on its fastener. Do not lock the cylinder body and transmit the tightening torque through its internal mechanism.
  • Protect the ports and rod against contamination and corrosion during storage. Exhaust residual air and support the load before maintenance.
  • Use a compact miniature push-in fitting at the body port so the fitting hex does not interfere with the clamp-arm screw on the 180° ACK or double-arm ACKD configuration.
