GAFR
Ending Pneumatic "Sub-Health": The GAFR Filter-Regulator Sweet Spot
In automation, compressed air is often treated as a clean, inexhaustible utility. This is a costly misconception. Untreated compressed air is a "silent killer," saturated with solid particulates, liquid condensate, and oil mist. This mixture creates an abrasive sludge that clogs orifices and shreds seals, leading to the dreaded state of "pneumatic sub-health."
Contamination Failure
Solid rust and dust particles embed in soft seals, turning your precision cylinder into a reciprocating sandpaper machine.
Pressure Chaos
Upstream spikes cause mechanical shock, while dips "starve" actuators, causing mid-cycle stalling or positioning drift.
The AirTAC GAFR Filter-Regulator Series is the brilliantly engineered "pneumatic hub" that addresses these threats at the source. By integrating high-efficiency cyclone filtration and balanced pressure regulation in a single body, it eliminates leak points and provides the absolute first line of defense your machine deserves.
- "2-in-1" Spatial Optimization: Combines Filter (F) and Regulator (R) to save critical cabinet space and installation time.
- Active Cyclone Separation: Removes 90%+ of bulk liquid water and oil droplets before they strike the filter element.
- Balanced Regulation Logic: Isolates downstream pressure from wild upstream fluctuations.
- Mechanical Setting Lock: "Push-to-Lock" knobs ensure your set-point is immune to machine vibration.
- Material Resiliency: Options for Nylon or Metal bowls to survive aggressive synthetic oils or high-impact environments.
1. The Physics of Purification: Cyclone Separation
Stage 1: Pre-Separation
The GAFR utilizes a unique diversion structure to spin air into a centrifugal cyclone. Gravity and momentum slam heavy contaminants against the bowl wall, preventing them from waterlogging the filter element. This keeps pressure drop low and significantly extends component lifespan.
Stage 2: Precision Interception
Pre-cleaned air passes through a specialized HDPE element. Specify 40µm (Standard) for general power pneumatics, or 5µm (Option 'W') for sensitive proportional valves and valve islands.
2. Precision Regulation: The Balanced Heart
Balanced Structure Immunity
Standard regulators are sensitive to supply fluctuations. The GAFR's balanced design ensures that even if your factory main-line drops from 120 psi to 110 psi, your machine sees a rock-solid, constant output pressure. This stability is the cornerstone of a consistent manufacturing process.
3. The Scalable Engineering Platform
GAFR200 (Compact)
1/8" & 1/4" ports. 25CC bowl. For point-of-use or small robotic tooling.
GAFR300/400 (Workhorse)
1/4" to 1/2" ports. 60CC-100CC bowls. The mainstream standard inlet choice.
GAFR500/600 (Header)
3/4" & 1" ports. Massive 205CC bowl. For production headers and heavy presses.
Standard Polycarbonate (PC) bowls will spontaneously crack if exposed to synthetic compressor oils, solvents (Acetone/Ketones), or cutting fluids. For these environments, you MUST upgrade to a Nylon or Metal bowl to prevent explosive pressure bursts.
Technical FAQ
If the GAFR is installed between a solenoid valve and a cylinder (to control clamping force), you require the "K" option. It features a built-in check valve allowing air to flow backward through the regulator, enabling the cylinder to retract at full speed during the exhaust cycle.
Stability Through Integration
The AirTAC GAFR Series Filter-Regulator is not an accessory; it is a strategic investment in machine health. By stopping contaminants and pressure volatility exactly at the point of use, it breaks the cycle of premature component failure. Choosing the right GAFR today ensures your automation runs flawlessly and efficiently for years to come.
