AirTAC 2KL vs 2KLA Solenoid Valves: Length, Dimensions and Replacement Guide
Compare AirTAC 2KL and 2KLA valve dimensions, terminal and grommet lengths, pressure limits, weights, coil data and the old-to-new ordering policy.
When replacing an AirTAC 2KL valve with 2KLA, the model update is only the starting point. The two catalogs list the same ordering families and nominal port choices, but the connector shape, drawing dimensions, weights and coil families change. This guide compares the supplied manufacturer PDFs and keeps the supplier’s delivery policy separate from a claim of identical fit.
Ordering and Delivery Policy
We supply 2KLA as the replacement for legacy 2KL valve orders. For example, an order for 2KL03006A is supplied as 2KLA03006A. Match the entire remaining configuration: pressure branch, body size, port size, voltage, electrical entry and thread. This valve policy does not automatically rename or replace a separate coil or mounting bracket.

Which Operating Features Stay the Same?
Both series include direct-acting 030/050 valves and internally piloted 150–500 valves. Their unenergized state is normally open. The catalogs specify SUS304 bodies, PTFE standard seals, Class H coils and IP65 coil protection. Suitable fluids are steam, high-temperature water and oil. The thermal limits are oil −10 to 150°C, water 1 to 150°C, steam up to 183°C and ambient −20 to 100°C. The general viscosity limit is under 20 cSt; the low-oil-temperature entry separately carries a 50 cSt-or-less footnote.
Pressure and Orifice Comparison
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| 030/050 standard branch | Maximum differential 0.7 MPa in both generations. |
| 030/050 H high-pressure branch | Maximum differential 1.5 MPa in both generations. |
| 030/050 proof pressure | 3.0 MPa in both generations. |
| 150–500 operating differential | 0.05–0.7 MPa in both generations. |
| 150–500 proof pressure | 1.5 MPa in both generations. |
For the direct-acting branch, H changes the orifice: 030 standard is Ø3 mm (Cv 0.33), 030 H is Ø2 mm (Cv 0.18); 050 standard is Ø5 mm (Cv 0.83), and 050 H is Ø4 mm (Cv 0.55). The corresponding effective areas are 6, 3, 15 and 10 mm². For the pilot branches 150/200/250/320/400/500, the orifices are Ø15/20/25/35/40/50 mm, with Cv 5.50/9.50/12.50/23.00/31.00/49.00. A 320 code means Ø35 mm in the ordering table; it is not a Ø32 mm guarantee.
Drawing Length and Height: Terminal Versions
A and C below are the letters printed in each catalog’s terminal drawing. A is the shown axial dimension, while C is the shown height. They do not include unlisted working clearance or make the valve interchangeable. Compare the complete drawing, port centers and mounting dimensions as well.

Drawing Length and Height: Grommet Versions
The I entry code selects a 0.5 m grommet / flying lead. Its length and height differ from the terminal arrangement, so a terminal dimension must not be reused as a grommet envelope.
| Size / port | Old → new drawing values |

| 400 / 1 1/2 in | 2KL: A 132 mm, C 167 mm. 2KLA: A 126 mm, C 164.5 mm. |
| 500 / 2 in | 2KL: A 150 mm, C 182 mm. 2KLA: A 144 mm, C 179.5 mm. |
Source-drawing issue: the 2KL terminal table lists A/AB as 78.5/82 mm for size 200 and 81/92 mm for size 250. The 2KLA table lists 75.5/79.5 mm and 77.5/90 mm respectively. In all four cases the listed A is smaller than AB, although the drawing makes that relationship unclear. The figures above reproduce the catalogs, not a verified overall length; confirm an approved drawing for these combinations before manufacturing or installing a mounting arrangement.

These are catalog reference weights rather than measured shipping weights. The actual product prevails; loose coil and bracket weights are not obtained by copying a valve weight.
Coil Changes and Electrical Differences
The legacy 2KL valve tables identify CDA116/CLA116 and CDA170/CLA170 coil families. The new 2KLA tables identify CDA110KH/CLA110KH and CDA160KH/CLA160KH. CDA refers to terminal entry and CLA to grommet entry. The independent coil catalogs give older bore sizes of 11.6/17.0 mm and newer bore sizes of 10.0/16.0 mm. Matching voltage alone therefore does not establish a coil fit.
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Legacy 030 / 150–250 valve coils | 15 VA at 50 Hz; 11 VA at 60 Hz; DC 6.5 W. |
| Legacy 050 / 320–500 valve coils | 35 VA at 50 Hz; 30 VA at 60 Hz; DC 12 W. |
| New 030 direct-acting valve page | 10 VA at 50 Hz; 8 VA at 60 Hz; DC 7.0 W. |
| New 050 direct-acting valve page | 25 VA at 50 Hz; 22 VA at 60 Hz; DC 10.5 W. |
| New 150–250 pilot-valve page | 10 VA at 50 Hz; 8 VA at 60 Hz; DC 6.5 W. |
| New 320–500 pilot-valve page | 25 VA at 50 Hz; 22 VA at 60 Hz; DC 12 W. |
The new PDF’s general coil page separately gives normally-open AC power of 15/11 VA for 110 coils and 35/30 VA for 160 coils, rather than the valve-page values above. It also differs from the direct-acting DC table. These are source differences, not values that can be mixed or averaged. Check the exact installed coil, supply and nameplate before substituting a loose coil.
Voltage choices remain A=AC220V, B=DC24V, C=AC110V, E=AC24V and F=DC12V; the specified tolerance is ±15% for AC and ±10% for DC. The independent coil code includes a separate heat-class suffix. Do not confuse a valve’s H pressure code with a coil’s H insulation suffix.
Brackets, Internal Parts and Installation Checks
The old accessory matrix uses F-2S030LB, F-2S050LB, F-2S150LB, F-2S200LB and F-2S250LB. The new matrix uses the corresponding F-2WA codes for these five size branches. These are optional mounting accessories; the 320, 400 and 500 branches have no mounting accessories in the tables. The catalogs do not authorize a blanket add-A conversion for brackets.
The new drawings also show revised coil/retention details and different internal-parts lists. Those numbered cross-sections identify reference parts, not independently orderable spare-part codes or kit quantities. Confirm the full model, thread standard, entry style, drawing dimensions, pressure differential and electrical data before replacement.
Source Pages and Limits
2KL: PDF pages 1–4, printed pages 214–217. 2KLA: PDF pages 1–5, printed pages 192–196. The independent legacy coil/accessory catalog is printed page 205. Numeric comparisons above come from those supplied PDFs; no external equivalence table, estimated flow or unlisted component compatibility is used.
